Here we have another fairly rare guitar, at least for North America – a Gibson CF100E Tamio Okuda model, cutaway with P90 and in very good condition.
For those in Japan, Tamio needs no introduction. One of Japan’s most popular guitarist/singer/producer/songwriters, Tamio Okuda has had an almost 30-year career in the Japanese scene.
The Gibson Custom Shop CF100E Tamio Okuda model was built as a limited edition model during 2014, based on Tamio Okuda’s own 1950’s guitar.
The top is solid Sitka Spruce, the back, sides and neck are mahogany (the profile copies Tamio’s guitar) with a rosewood fingerboard. The finish is a faded cherry, unbuffed, ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer. The scale length is 24.75 inches, and the nut width is 1 11/16. They are very light and responsive!
A P-90 pickup is mounted underneath the end of the fingerboard, with volume and tone controls installed to the lower bout and an output jack on the side. This layout was later transferred to the CF-100E’s successor guitar – the Gibson J-100E, used on so many Beatles recordings.
Sold with its original Gibson hard shell case.
