The Gibson 57 Reissue Les Paul Junior is a re-creation of one of the popular entry level Les Paul, introduced in 1954. Until 1958, it was strictly a single cutaway slab-bodied guitar built with Mahogany for the body and neck and Rosewood for the fingerboard. From 1958 until 1961 when the Les Paul line was given a new body, a double cutaway version was available. Reissues began in 1986 and have been built in at least eight periods.
Here we’re looking at a Gibson 57 Reissue Les Paul Junior in a Faded Cherry nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Like its source, this guitar is simply built with Mahogany slab body, a Mahogany neck with full ‘baseball bat’ neck profile and an Indian Rosewood fingerboard – the 1950s originals would have used Brazilian Rosewood. This guitar has been played, and there’s an amount of ‘buckle rash’ on the back. Fret and fingerboard wear are light, and this guitar plays quite well. An Emerson wiring harness has been installed in place of the stock CTS harness.
The original Gibson hard shell case is included.
