The Gibson 1956 Les Paul nearly reached the model’s evolutionary peak after its 1952 introduction. At this point the neck angle had increased and the new ABR-1 bridge and stop tailpiece had been added – all that remained was the late 1957 introduction of Gibson’s new humbucking pickups.
This ’56 Les Paul Goldtop reissue was built in Nashville during 2020. It is in very good, clean condition, and is accompanied by its original case and all the original documents, booklet and brown Lifton-style case. The nitrocellulose lacquer finish is thin, and there is some wear on the lower edges of the back, likely from a stand. `
Here’s the builder on the Gibson 1956 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue:
“1956 was the only full year in which the Les Paul model featured the powerful P-90 pickups and the adjustable ABR-1 bridge setup, a combination that allowed the Les Paul model to intonate, sustain, and thrill like never before. This Gibson Custom Shop ’56 Reissue captures the look, feel and searing sound of an original 1956 Les Paul Goldtop in exhaustive detail, featuring all solid woods, vintage-accurate gold paint, authentic replica parts, Historic narrow/tall frets, and hot hide glue construction. “
