❌SOLD❌ G W Barry Mod C CW Malaysian Blackwood with Arm Rest, 2019

Presenting a fine rarity from 2019, a custom built, lightly used G W Barry Mod C with cutaway, featuring Malaysian Blackwood and a magnetically mounted arm rest. This guitar is in very good, clean condition with very light wear and a small finish chip to the edge of the treble side neck.

The G W Barry Mod C CW is a variation on G.W. Barry’s Concert Model. It has the same body depth and outline but with a quarter inch removed from the entire perimeter — effectively making it a guitar with a 15 1/2 inch wide lower bout. This creates a very comfortable body size, closer to a traditional OM, with a well balanced tone that retains strong bottom end fundamentals.

The G W Barry Mod C CW is featured here with an Engelmann Spruce top and Adirondack Spruce bracing, and a stunning set of Malaysian Blackwood – an ebony species. The Barry Mod C CW sports a Florentine cutaway allowing easy access to the upper end of the fingerboard and the 1 3/4 ” nut width and 2 1/4″ string spacing at the saddle accommodates finger-style playing.

A first time feature on a Barry guitar is a new magnetic armrest, made by G W Barry.  Armrests, of course, have been around for a long time. This one however, is rare-earth magnet loaded and can be installed or removed in less time than it takes to don your favourite thumb-pick.

Simply line the arm rest up with the front of the bridge and the magnets do the rest.  It remains stable and secure until you need to remove it, which is just as easy.  There are also ‘reversed’ magnets inside the guitar to help guide the arm rest to the correct position.

The advantage of the armrest is that it keeps your forearm off of the soundboard which allows for a noticeable increase in tone and volume. Its accented beveled edge adds a comfort factor and is fully lined with cork so as not to damage the guitars finish.
