Brand: GW Barry
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, REDUCED, SOLD
G W Barry has been building fine steel strings for some time, and this Barry M body cutaway dates to 1995 at his shop in Toronto.
Built with a Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back sides and headplate, with mahogany for the neck and ebony for the fingerboard and bridge, maple binding and an abalone rosette, this guitar is in very nice shape. It has been played over the years so it has some honest play wear, mostly taking form as finger or pick wear just above the pickguard edge. Recently the bridge was removed and reglued by GW Barry. Overall it has been well looked after and properly humidified.
This guitar has an early Fishman pickup system installed, leading to a standard endpin jack. At one time another passive pickup system was in place and connected to a standard ‘panel’ or barrel jack. The pickup itself is removed, but panel jack is still in place.
This guitar does have a serial number on the neck block, but it’s covered by the battery holder. The dating to 1995 is confirmed by G W Barry.
The large Barry M-size body gives it a full, rich bottom end, but it doesn’t overpower the top end. It’s a very nice guitar to play. A TKL double arched hardshell case is included.
