Brand: Furch
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, REDUCED, SOLD
Part of a now-discontinued model range, this very nice Furch G23-CB uses a Grand Auditorium body with Cedar top and African Blackwood for the sides and back.
Furch guitars, now marketed in North America under the Stonebridge label – the name is a reference to Prague’s Charles bridge across the river Vltava – are built in Velké Němčice, a small town some distance south of Prague. Furch built around 100 instruments, mostly guitars, between 1981 and 1989’s collapse of the Communist government. At that point Furch was able to move to a commercial model, into a larger workspace and hire employees. At the moment, Furch has around 40 people on staff and their instruments are well-regarded internationally.
Here we’re looking at a Furch G23-CB steel string acoustic guitar built in the early part of 2017. The model number identifies this instrument as having a Grand Auditorium body, part of the now-discontinued ’23’ series, with Cedar top and African Blackwood sides and back. The serial number dates it to early 2017. The body blocks and neck are Mahogany, and the head-plate, bridge and fingerboard are Ebony. The rosette includes an Abalone ring.
This guitar is in very good, clean condition with only minor wear. It has a full, deep and rich voice that is fairly well developed – more intensive playing will help it open up further.
The original hard shell Hiscox LiteFlite Standard light-weight flight case is included.
