Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, SOLD
This beautiful Flammang 000-35 is a custom built model from David Flammang in the small city of Greene, Iowa during 2020. The guitar is in excellent condition, pairing a Red Spruce (often called Adirondack) top with Mahogany for the sides, back, body blocks and vintage style V-profile neck. The fingerboard and bridge are Ebony, and the head plate is Brazilian Rosewood. The tuners are Waverly open-gear models.
The 000 body size was introduced by Martin in 1902, though it was not a big seller until the later 1930s. In 1929, the design was altered to accommodate a 14-fret neck, and that became the OM or Orchestra Model. The ’35’ in the name does not map to a Martin product, where the ’35’ models have a three-piece back, with the back and sides being Indian Rosewood rather than Mahogany.
David Flammang has been building in Greene, Iowa since the late 1980s. While he’s not very well known, his instruments are extremely well built and finished.
This Flammang 000-35 sports a gloss Sunburst finish on the top and natural finish on the rest of the guitar. The finish is very clean and overall the look is of elegant simplicity.
Tonally, this guitar has just about everything. The sound is full and rich throughout the harmonic range, with plenty of volume and projection. It’s a wonderful guitar to sit and play.
The original Guardian hard shell case is included.
