Brand: FinMc Mandolins
Instrument Categories: Mandolins, SOLD
Here we have the brand-new Fintan McEnroe FinMc MC16 F-style mandolin from Fintan McEnroe, working in Toronto but originally from Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan, Ireland. The ‘16’ in the name refers to the mandolin serial number and production sequence. This fine instrument was very recently finished, in January of 2023.
The Fintan McEnroe FinMc MC16 is a traditional F-Style mandolin, with a carved Sitka Spruce top and Curly Maple for the sides, neck and carved back. The fingerboard and bridge are Ebony and the neck contains an adjustable truss rod. The body has double layer faux-tortoise binding, and the inlays are a combination of Mother of Pearl and Abalone. The finish is a dark, hand-rubbed lacquer sunburst on the body and headstock, with a Shellac finish on the deep V profile neck.
For hardware, a very nice set of Rubner tuners with Snakewood buttons and inserts are at the head, and at the other end there is a Golden Age tailpiece. The Ebony bridge is compensated for each string, and the nut is Bone.
The position markers are dots, and the headstock inlay set includes the FinMc logo and a lovely traditional vine inlay.
Overall the Fintan McEnroe FinMc MC16 is a very fine instrument, well thought out, cleanly and well built, with a very nice finish. And it sounds and plays as good as it looks!
The Fintan McEnroe FinMc MC16 is sold with its original lightweight Gator hard shell case.
