Part of the genius in the Telecaster design is the fact that it bolts together with standardised parts, so over time repairs can be easily done and the life of the instrument extended. This also means that customisation is possible.
Here we have a practical example of this, in the form of a refinished-red Fender Telecaster with a 1959 body and bridge, and a 1967 neck and neck pickup. The bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan vintage model. The neck, dated 3JUL67B, has been refretted with wider ‘Gibson’ style fretwire, and there is some wear in the lower positions. The body was likely originally blonde, but this was stripped off many years ago by a previous owner and a red lacquer was applied.
This guitar plays fairly well, and has that unmistakable Telecaster feel and sparkle. It is being sold without case, though we can supply one.
