Built from 1972 to 1979 along with the Custom, the Fender Telecaster Deluxe had a number of unique features, blending influences from both Fender and Gibson products.
Starting with the basic Tele design, the Fender Telecaster Deluxe added a pair of Fender’s new Seth Lover – designed Wide Range Humbuckers plus individual volume and tone controls, and the bridge from a Hard-Tail Stratocaster, with the ‘new’ larger pickguard and higher-mounted pickup selector mostly shared with the Custom. The body also received a comfort contour or ‘belly cut’ on the back. The neck is largely borrowed from a Stratocaster, with the larger 70’s Strat headstock, wider fret wire and curved heel. This model, unlike the Custom, also received new sealed tuning machines with bolt-down collars and no visible mounting screws.
This Fender Telecaster Deluxe appears to be all original apart from what looks to be a Graph-Tek nut, and is in overall good condition, with expected play wear. The frets are fairly low compared to modern fret sizes but are quite playable. For sound, the CuNiFe Wide-Range Humbuckers have a unique and very desirable tone, with plenty of clarity and separation, and enough thickness for a full sound.
A shaped, molded hard shell case is included.
