It’s been a while since we’ve seen a vintage Fender Telecaster in as good shape as this one, which is all original except for a Stainless Steel refret by Douglas Harrison.
Introduced in 1950 as the Esquire, and then upgraded with a second pickup in the neck position and renamed the Broadcaster – then the ‘NoCaster’, and finally the Telecaster in 1951 – the Fender Telecaster has been one of the most influential and popular musical instruments in history.
This Fender Telecaster dates to 1971 and is in very good condition, with an Ash body, Maple neck and Blonde finish. There is a bit of staining to the finish where a player’s arm rested on the top, but otherwise the finish is in great shape with no significant wear or damage. It’s entirely original except for a re-fret with Stainless Steel fret wire, which will basically make the guitar almost maintenance-free for the next many years. It has a recent setup and plays very well and cleanly.
Unusually, this guitar includes the original strap and the original factory inspection tag, stamped on the back by E. Paxton, C. Aguirre, and R. Trujillo and on the front by Albert A. Madrid.
An older Fender hard shell case with gold-coloured lining, not original to this guitar, is included.
