Produced from 1990 to 1995, the Fender Tele Plus provided a number of alterations popular with pro players, though it didn’t really catch on in the mass market. Taking cues from the 1987 release of the Strat Plus, the Tele Plus featured an Ash body, 22 fret neck, Lace Sensor pickups – a single coil at the neck and a double coil at the bridge, a TBX control and a split switch for the bridge pickup. The short bridge used six block-type saddles, as are still used on modern Strat bridges. And there were new finishes!
In early 1995, a second version of the Tele Plus was released. This added a comfort cutaway on the back of the body, and three single Fender Noiseless pickups. These are not to be confused with the ‘Nashville’ Telecaster models, which have a Strat pickup in the middle position and a wider neck.
Here we’re looking at a first-version Fender Tele Plus, with Ash body and Indian Rosewood slab-type fingerboard dressed in the Blue Burst finish, built during 1993 in Corona California and in very good, clean condition. The pickup configuration uses Fender Lace Sensors – a Red at the neck and two Blue models at the bridge.
This is a very good guitar, almost noiseless and with a wide range of tones. Fret and finish wear are about as light as it gets once the guitar is out of its shipping carton. It plays well and cleanly, and the Blue Burst finish is distinctive and attractive.
The original molded hard shell case is included.
