Seen here is a Fender Stratocaster Refinish in Fiesta Red, the body and neck built during 1961 in Fullerton California. It looks rather like a ‘Hank Marvin’ Stratocaster; when the Shadows were at their peak, many Strats in the UK were refinished in Fiesta Red, often by the official Fender distributor who could not get enough stock of that colour.
Over time, many elements of this Fender Stratocaster Refinish guitar have been changed. The alder body, Maple neck and bridge components are original though the finish is not. During the body’s refinishing process, it was slimmed somewhat. The neck has had its Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard re-fretted with a jumbo style fret wire. The electronics and ‘Kluson vintage’ style tuners are newer, and a 5-way switch has been added. The pickguard is a pre-mid-1959 style single layer rather than the three layer model that appeared in later 1959.
It’s very comfortable to play and sounds great. For my hands, I personally find these early 60’s Strat necks to be the most comfortable of all, and the larger frets provide a very positive, high traction grip requiring very little effort.
A rather nice rectangular rigid foam case is included. This case is lightweight and provides significant protection, and contains the trem arm and a set of Fender-branded Schaller tuners.
