The Fender Stratocaster 57 Vintage model built during 2003 is one of several lines of vintage reproductions, bringing back the features and aesthetics of classic models.
Introduced in 1954 as Leo Fender’s third full “Spanish” guitar design (distinct from his popular steel guitars) following the Esquire/Telecaster and the Precision Bass, the Stratocaster was an immediate hit and has been in continuous production since. The first major change appeared in 1959 as Fender learned how to install Rosewood fingerboards in a production line. Rosewood had a greater association with jazz musicians, and Fender wanted more of that market. But until that point the Stratocaster’s specifications were very stable, with slight variations in areas such as edge roundness and plastics used.
This Fender Stratocaster 57 Vintage is in overall good, but not entirely original, condition. With a light ash body and one-piece V profile Maple neck and finished in a thin, fifties-style two tone tobacco sunburst lacquer, and with single layer pickguard, this example hews closely to the 57 specs. The original pickups have been replaced with Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot pickups for higher output and richer tone. As well, the pickup cavities have been slightly enlarged.
The finish itself is in very good condition with only light wear, and fret wear is minimal. This great looking Fender Stratocaster 57 Vintage plays well and the Fralin pickups sound great!
The original Fender Tweed hard shell case, built by G&G is included and contains the original hang tags and ‘case candy’ with cord strap and extra trem springs.
