The Fender Postmodern Stratocaster was one of several models offered between 2015 and 2018, the Postmodern concept merging a number of modern features into traditional designs.
Built by the Custom Shop, at least two versions of the Fender Postmodern Stratocaster (with choice of Maple or Rosewood fingerboards and a number of finishes, reliced or not) were joined in that year by Telecaster versions. For 2016, Postmodern Precision and Jazz bass versions were offered.
Here we are looking at an early Fender Postmodern Stratocaster with Rosewood fingerboard and Dakota Red finish, built during 2015 at the Corona California Custom Shop. This example is in very good original condition and the guitar plays well and cleanly. Its larger narrow/jumbo frets give plenty of traction for bending and help provide clarity and definition to chords.
The body is lightweight Ash with slim contours, contoured heel, and Dakota Red finish. The neck is Maple with a compound (9.5 to 12 inch) radius, 60’s-C Profile Indian Rosewood fingerboard fitted with Narrow Jumbo frets. Electronics include three Custom Shop Fat 60’s pickups with the center being RW/RP (Reverse Wound / Reverse Polarity) providing hum cancellation in the ‘2’ and ‘4’ positions. The controls use a Vintage Modified wiring scheme with a Treble Bleed Resistor / Capacitor network on the volume control. The tuners are not locking and look like traditional Fender split-shaft models, but have staggered posts to remove the need for string trees.
The original Fender hard shell case is included.
