Over the years, people have taken advantage of the modular construction of the Stratocaster and this has led to many guitars like this Fender Partscaster, as they have come to be known.
This Fender Partscaster was put together by a staff member of The Twelfth Fret Repair Shop for his personal use and to his standards for playability. It plays very well.
The neck of this Fender Partscaster is a replacement model Fender Baked Maple, built in Mexico during 2019 and featuring a gloss finish, jumbo frets, a 12 inch radius fingerboard, and gloss finish. The body, pickguard and electronics are from an HSS (one humbucker at the bridge, two single coils) Squier Stratocaster. The body’s finish is gloss black and is in decent condition with some small marks from honest use.
The neck has locking tuners, and the original bridge was replaced with a Wilkinson model with push-fit trem arm and Fender-stamped, vintage style bent steel saddles.
Baked Maple is sometimes referred to as Roasted or Caramelized. These necks, like the Spruce tops on a number of higher end steel string acoustic guitars, are treated in a fairly high temperature but oxygen poor environment. The aim is to reproduce the effects of age on the wood’s cellular structure, leading to a stabler, more responsive piece. It does work!
This Fender Partscaster is sold without case, but we have gig bags on hand at reasonable prices.
