The Stratocaster burst on the scene in 1954, and the Fender John English ’54 Strat 50th Anniversary model very closely replicates one of the originals.
The late John English was for many years the senior Master Builder at Fender’s Custom Shop, until his death in 2007. These few ’54 Strats are a testament to his skill.
Built to exact 1954 specifications, this Fender John English ’54 Strat demonstrates the elegant simplicity of the Stratocaster. Custom wound Alnico 3 pickups, original style thin nitrocellulose lacquer finishes in correct colours and composition, U-profile neck with vintage size frets at 7.25 inch radius. Historically accurate parts are used. The fit and finish are perfect. It is wired with a 3-way switch, but a 5-way can easily be added.
This example has been lightly used, with a few small marks to the finish and light fret wear. It hasn’t spent all of its time in its case. It plays very well, and has the clear, glassy tone Strats brought out.
This wonderful instrument is sold with its original-style ‘Poodle’ case, which contains a strap, the Certificate of Authenticity, the manuals and other ‘Case Candy’.
