Built from 1995 to 2016, the Fender Jazz V American Deluxe bass had a significant hardware change in 2004, with new pickups and active electronics.
Drawing from the classic Jazz Bass introduced in 1960, the 2004 Fender Jazz V American Deluxe uses an Alder body with a five-bolt neck plate connecting a wider, 12 inch radius Maple neck. Position marker dots are Mother of Pearl, and the truss rod adjuster is at the body end. The headstock lays out the tuners in a 4+1 configuration. Because of the extra controls on the plate, the output jack is moved to the lower treble side.
Previous versions used passive electronics (with Suhr-designed stacked humbuckers), but the 2004 model adds a cavity on the back to contain a pair of standard 9v batteries. The pickups are Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Jazz Bass models, and the controls include master volume, pickup blend and a 3-band equalizer that the batteries power. Later versions of this bass used Fender N3 noiseless pickups and a mini-toggle Active / Passive switch.
This Fender Jazz V American Deluxe bass is in very good, clean condition with negligible wear and is an excellent choice for anyone needing a solid 5-string Jazz bass. This bass has apparently had so little use that the control identification chart is still in place!
The original hard shell case is included.
