The Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster maple is a beautiful guitar from Fenders signature series. Texas guitar virtuoso Eric Johnson is well known for his incredible playing and meticulous nature when crafting his tone. To that end this signature guitar has been created with all of his personal specifications. Eric is very fond of 1957 Stratocaster features and this guitar has a number of them.
The two piece alder body has deep 1957 contours and cavities and the quarter sawn maple neck has a 57 style soft “V” profile. The tremolo is a vintage style with silver painted block, 57 style string recess, no paint between the base plate and the block and there is no cover no the tremolo cavity at the back.
The body on the Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster maple is finished with nitrocellulose lacquer which was used on many of the original and most sought after Fender guitars. This thin and porous finish allows the wood to breathe and will aged with unique character that is appealing to many players. The quarter swan neck has extra stability and the V neck profile is excellent for players with larger hands where their thumb can often extend over the edge of the fretboard. The 12” radius is flatter than many vintage necks but really helps to facilitate large bluesy bends. The three single coil pickups are special voiced pickups with countersunk screws and they have a wonderful balance of warmth and clarity.
