The Fender American Standard Telecaster appeared was built in two time frames, 1998-2000 and 2008-2016. In between the two, it was called the American Series, and afterwards the American Professional. These are all excellent instruments and a great illustration of the basic quality of Leo Fender’s Telecaster design. To my hands, these are some of the most comfortable guitars made.
Here we’re looking at a Fender American Standard Telecaster with an opaque Blonde finish, dating to 1995 in Corona, California, using three North American woods. The neck is Maple with Walnut covering the rear-mounted truss rod channel, and at this time the body was Alder. Fender also uses various types of Ash as a body wood. The fretwire is a medium-jumbo type, larger than ‘vintage’ styles and with the slightly ‘rolled’ 22-fret fingerboard edges provides a very comfortable, positive feel with plenty of traction for bending. The bridge is a modern design with six individual stainless steel saddles that provide great note sustain and note separation in chords. These saddles are also comfortable if you rest your hand on them! Tuners are sealed Fender models with hidden locating pins; these are some of the best tuners Fender has used, and the current locking models are drop-in replacements.
This Fender American Standard Telecaster example is in overall good, largely original condition with honest play wear. The original off-white pickguard, included in the case, was swapped for a black pickguard. The finish has a few small chips, dings and some checking. Fretwear is moderate, and the guitar plays well.
Sold with its original molded, shaped hard shell case, containing the original Fender hang tag, strap, truss rod adjuster key, and the original off-white pickguard.
