The Fender American Professional Jazz bass is an update of the Fender Deluxe bass, originally released in 1960 and quickly renamed as the Jazz Bass. Fender believed the narrower neck and single coil pickups would appeal to jazz musicians. This bass became a legend as it caught on to more than just jazz players and it has been heard on countless classic recordings.
The Fender American Professional Jazz bass retains much of the character of its ancestor while being updated with modern features to create an amazing contemporary bass. This particular version features a maple neck and fretboard, alder body and an Olympic white finish. The slim modern “C” shape neck profile is very easy to handle and a perfect fit for players that find a P Bass neck to have too much mass. The headstock has new fluted shaft tuning machines which force the string windings down the shaft providing a sharper and more consistent break angle over the bone nut. This helps to increase sustain and provide better tuning stability.
The new V mod single coil pickups on the Fender American Professional Jazz bass are a modern take on Fenders classic pickup design. The treble pickup use Alnico 5 magnets and the middle pickups use Alnico 2 magnets to produce a crisp and clear tone that retains that vintage Fender warmth.
Other features on this bass include hi mass vintage bridge for increased sustain and Posiflex graphite rods in the neck for stability. The new feature sets and classic design elements are certain to ensure the legacy of this amazing bass for years to come!
