The Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster series was built from 1998 to 2016, and was available in a variety of pickup configurations, with locking tuners and two-point bridge. In this example, the early series of Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups are stock.
From its appearance in 1954, the Stratocaster has been a successful and well received design. It is versatile enough to meet the tonal needs of players in many genres, its bolt-together construction allows straightforward maintenance and customization, and it is very durable and reliable.
Here we’re looking at an early American Deluxe Stratocaster, dating to 1999 with the ‘SSS’ three single-coil configuration – or so it seems. The Vintage Noiseless single coils are actually two stacked coils in the stock cover.
This rosewood-fingerboard example is in very nice condition, and the most visible wear is that the ‘noiseless’ logos has worn off the pickup covers; this happens fairly quickly. It is equipped with locking tuners, which speed up string changes and can slightly improve tuning stability through fewer wraps on the post. At this time, the locking tuners did not have staggered posts. The bridge is a solid two-point model, smoother and stabler than the vintage style six-screw models. Fret wear is minimal. On these guitars, Fender installed a larger fret wire, and abalone dot position markers. The body is Swamp Ash with a traditional three-tone sunburst. The finish is clean with some very light scuffing at the tail edge of the back.
The orginial Fender hard shell case is included, and contains the trem arm.
