Instantly recognizable, the EVH Red Stripe draws from the guitar the late Eddie Van Halen used on his breakthrough recordings and performances. The original instrument was constructed from an unfinished body and neck set by Boogie Bodies, and added a used Fender Stratocaster trem and Gibson humbucker – plus the highly distinctive paint scheme that was immediately copied by many players.
Over the years, Van Halen has partnered with a number of companies – Kramer, Ernie Ball Music Man, Peavey, Charvel and now Fender, to produce instruments and amplifiers based on what he found useful in the real world of rock guitar performance.
Under a license agreement between EVH and Fender Musical Instrument Corporation (FMIC), the EVH Red Stripe is built in the Ensenada, Mexico Fender plant along other high quality instruments. Featuring a Basswood body, one-piece quartersawn Maple neck, one pickup and of course a Floyd Rose double-locking trem system, the EVH Red Stripe is a dedicated Rock machine!
This EVH Red Stripe example dates to 2013 and is in great condition with very little wear of any kind. The bridge is currently set up to rest on the body; this prevents the entire guitar from going wildly sharp should one string break, but also prevents pulling up on the bar. This arrangement is a setup choice and can be readily altered should the player require it.
The original Fender hard shell case is included.
