This Charvel EVH Art Series model #268, was used on stage by Edward Van Halen in Reno, Nevada on April 17, 2008.
The EVH Art Series was introduced following the end of Edward Van Halen’s contract with Peavey in 2004. These limited series, high end models were intended to be sold at auction, and a specific set was built for use within concerts in the 2007 / 2008 tours.
These guitars are based on Van Halen’s early guitars, themselves starting from the original Stratocaster design. The 25.5 inch scale length, 22 fret compound radius neck is one-piece Maple with oil finish, bolted to a Basswood body. A real key to the difference is the Floyd Rose double locking trem system, with locking nut, string retainer, and locking bridge with both fine tuners and D-Tuna. The pickup is a custom EVH Humbucking pickup made by Fender, direct mounted to the body and run through a single volume control to a side-mounted output jack. The tuners are Schaller M6 Minis.
The EVH Art Series #268 draws from the ‘Bumblebee’ guitar, with unique pinstriping and a unique ’79’ stenciled at the tail in yellow. It is in pristine condition with no play wear aside from Van Halen’s use of it on stage.
This unique instrument is sold with its original rectangular G&G hard shell case, including markings and tape replicating the original. The case contains the Certificate of Authenticity, an 8×10 photograph of Edward Van Halen playing this guitar on stage, strap, picks, and two sets of EVH strings.
