The Ernie Ball MusicMan JP6 is the original John Petrucci signature model, pairing a contoured basswood body with a Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard.
Here we are looking at a very good condition Ernie Ball MusicMan JP6 BFR, or ‘Ball Family Reserve’ model, built with higher grade woods and finishes. This model dates to March 8 2011 and was built in San Luis Obispo, California. This guitar sports a well preserved gloss finish, with the Basswood body and headstock front in a ‘Black Sugar’ metallic black finish, while the rest of the Roasted Maple neck bears a gloss finish. The Ebony fingerboard is unfinished but carries the BFR logo at the octave fret and dots in the other marker positions.
This example is in great condition and sports the usual high end features – locking Schaller-built tuners, compensated nut, Dreamcatcher bridge with integrated Piezo elements and Rainmaker neck. The original pickups have been upgraded to 2019 model JP pickups, with the stock Mono/Stereo output setup. This guitar plays very well and is very comfortable.
Here is the builder describing the current Ernie Ball MusicMan JP6:
“The basswood body features a high gloss durable finish with stylish lines and an ergonomic scooped arm contour. The smooth action floating tremolo allows for raising and lowering of the pitch with impeccable tuning stability and piezo pickups. Stainless steel frets, JP shield inlays and a rosewood fretboard come standard on the ultra-thin, fast and figured maple neck.”
