The Ernie Ball Music Man Reflex HH guitar appeared during late 2009 and was built until 2017, when it underwent a number of electronic improvements and became ‘The Game Changer’.
Somewhat similar to the Axis line, the Ernie Ball Music Man Reflex HH uses three woods for the body – a Basswood shell, Mahogany tone block, and a Maple cap. The neck is a traditional Maple, with either an integrated Maple fingerboard or a Rosewood slab board. The top is bound, and the guitar receives a gloss solid colour finish with matching headstock – in this case, a bright White. The neck receives a mixture of gloss and oil finishes. On these models, the truss rod adjuster is a wheel at the body end of the neck, easily accessed without removing the neck or any other hardware.
This example dates to fairly early in the Reflex HH production – November 10th, 2009 – and is in good condition with minimal wear; unfortunately the trem arm is missing.
The Reflex HH precedes the ‘Game Changer’ models, and has a much simpler wiring layout. A five-way switch selects either or both humbuckers, plus combinations of inside or outside coils. A second toggle switches between Series and Parallel modes. The pickups are by DiMarzio, and are suspended in a three-point carrier for accurate and rattle-free adjustment.
The newer “Game Changer” Reflex models add significant more complexity, and even a plug-in USB, 1/4 inch and 8-pin DIN output module.
The original Ernie Ball Music Man molded hard shell case is included.
