The Ernie Ball Music Man Axis promises and delivers straight ahead rock performance, suited for both high octane playing and lower energy levels. It uses the familiar and reliable recipe of a figured maple top on basswood, with a hard maple neck and locking trem system. The controls couldn’t be much simpler for a two-humbucker guitar – one volume control and a pickup selector.
Sporting a Trans Orange quilted maple top with colour-matched headstock, this Ernie Ball Music Man Axis dates to June 6 2006, based on production records. It is in great condition, very clean with almost no wear. It’s also set up with light strings and very low action, and it is impressive how cleanly it plays. An EVH D-Tuna is installed on the low E. The locking trem set is a Floyd Rose design, licensed to Ernie Ball Music Man.
The original hard shell case is included.
From the Ernie Ball Music Man website, here’s a description of the Axis:
“The Axis guitar features a beautiful quilt or flame book matched maple top over a lightweight basswood body. Two medium output custom DiMarzio humbuckers are mounted directly to the body for optimum resonance and signal response. This tonewood/pickup combination is a perfect recipe for hard edge rock tones but also delivers a subtle dynamic response at lower volume levels when needed. The Axis asymmetric hard rock maple neck allows for comfortable hand positions across all 22 frets, while the double locking Music Man Floyd Rose tremolo keeps the guitar perfectly in tune. “
