❌SOLD❌ Epiphone Zephyr Deluxe Archtop Electric Sunburst, 1947

The Epiphone Zephyr Deluxe non-cutaway archtop electric guitar was built from 1941 to 1954, and features a laminate spruce top on a laminate maple body for feedback reduction.

This is a full size guitar at 17.375 inches (441.33mm) across, 3.375 inch (85.73mm) deep and with a 25.5 inch (647.6mm) scale length. Over the years, it had either one or two pickups, and the single pickup location varied between the neck, middle and bridge positions. The pickup model also changed, from the ‘Master Pickup’ to the “New York” style. These are both single coils designs as the humbucking configuration didn’t come into use until the 1954 Fender Precision Bass update, and around 1957 for Gibson and Gretsch humbucking guitar pickups.

This Epiphone Zephyr Deluxe was built around 1947 based on the middle-position pickup type and location, control layout and the serial number. The serial is ‘75194’ with the 75 being a prefix for this model and the ‘194’ its production rank; this serial scheme was used from 1944 to 1950. The top is Laminate Spruce, the back and sides Laminate Maple and the neck a five piece layup of Maple and Walnut. The bridge and bound fingerboard are Brazilian Rosewood. The fingerboard ‘Cloud’ inlays and the headstock Vine and Epiphone logo are Mother of Pearl.

The metal parts on the Epiphone Zephyr Deluxe are gold plated, with a classic Epiphone ‘Frequensator’ tailpiece and Epiphone branded tuners with plastic buttons. The single pickup was recently rewound by Douglas Harrison and has a translucent cover, amber tinted around the coil. The volume and tone controls are perpendicular to the string path and sport ‘Master Voicer’ trim plates. The creme pointer knobs are original, but the pickguard is long gone. The top has had a crack repair and a clear overspray, but the rest of the finish is original and in good condition. This guitar was professionally refretted, and played enough to have light to moderate fret wear but plays well; it is presently strung with a heavier gauge flatwound set.

A non original, arched top hard shell case is included.
