The Eastman SB56N Gold Top Solidbody honors the traditional “LP” construction concept, with top quality materials, construction and components including stock Lollar P-90 pickups!
Built during 2020 at the Eastman shop outside Beijing, China, this Eastman SB56N is in very good, clean condition with only light wear. The original hard shell case is included.
Built using a one-piece Mahogany body under a solid carved Maple cap, and one-piece Mahogany neck with Ebony for the fingerboard and head plate, the Eastman SB56N is intended to look and act like a mid 1950’s gold top P-90 equipped model, and does a great job of it. Construction is clean and solid, fit and finish are top notch. The gold top finish is a classic.
For hardware, the Eastman SB56N centers around a pair of Lollar Custom Aged Soap Bar P-90 pickups, with an Underwound version in the neck position and both in cream plastic covers. The controls include a Switchcraft 12120X switch and CTS 500K Audio Taper pots with Sprague Orange Drop capacitors on the tone control. The bridge and tailpiece are a Gotoh Relic set with nickel plating and the tuners are Gotoh SD90 models, much like the Kluson Deluxe tuners with ‘keystone’ buttons used throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Fretwire is Jescar FW47104-P, and the fingerboard radius is 12 inches. Mother of Pearl is used for the position markers and the Eastman headstock logo.
This is an impressive guitar. The Eastman SB56N is easily as good as any other of this type, and superior to many. For new examples out of the box, the stock setup is good, and the fret work is clean and smooth. The Lollar pickups are just great sounding, fat and rich.
