The new Eastman Romeo is a thinline archtop electric designed by Otto D’Ambrosio and features a solid Spruce top on laminated Mahogany sides and back for feedback resistance.
Introduced during 2020 but in short supply due to COVID effects, the Eastman Romeo has an almost fully hollow body, but with a Mahogany block from the tail to the bridge. This block provides the necessary support for the bridge and stop tailpiece supports. The top is carved, solid Spruce and the back and sides are formed, layered Mahogany. The neck is Mahogany, with a bound Ebony fingerboard and Mother of Pearl dot position markers.
The hardware used on the Eastman Romeo is top quality all around. All the plating is nickel. Tuners are Gotoh SGS510Z-S5-HAP-XN – the HAP stands for “Height Adjustable Posts” allowing control over the string downbearing at the nut. The bridge and stop tailpiece are also Gotoh models. The pickups are custom wound Lollar Imperials and lead to a Switchcraft 3-position selector switch and CTS 500K Audio Taper pots for Master Volume and individual Tone controls using Sky .047 capacitors, and a Switchcraft output jack.
This is a very comfortable, lightweight guitar well suited to a wide range of genres. Like other Eastman products, it’s very well built and finished – Eastman does some of the best nitrocellulose lacquer finishing around.
The Eastman Romeo is sold with its original Eastman hard shell case.
