Here is a great jazz guitar – an Eastman PG2 Pagelli offset-body archtop, with carved Spruce top and Flame Maple back!
The Eastman PG2 has a stunning new design for a full bodied archtop jazz guitar! The Pagelli Signature Series, designed in Switzerland by Claudio and Claudia Pagelli, is handcrafted in the Eastman workshop of premium AAA spruce & deeply flamed maple.
The Eastman PG2 Pagelli features a striking ebony tailpiece, ebony finger rest, unique full contact ebony floating bridge with bone saddle insert, Kent Armstrong HJGS6-BK suspended pickup with adjustable pole pieces and pickguard mounted volume & tone controls.
The Eastman PG2 is a full size archtop, with a 17 inch wide body – the Gibson Super 400 is one of the few larger models, with an 18 inch wide body!
The top is hand-carved solid Spruce, paired with a hand-carved Flame Maple back. Flame maple is also used for the sides and three-piece neck. Ebony is used for the head plate, bridge, tailpiece, pickguard, the fingerboard and its binding. The body binding is Indian Rosewood.
This Eastman PG2 dates to May 2011, based on its serial number, and is in overall very nice condition. There is very little wear of any kind. Eastman uses Nitrocellulose Lacquer for its finishes, and this sinks slightly over time, how much depending partly on how open the grain of the wood is. Maple is very tight, so there’s little sinkin on the back, sides or neck, while the long grain of the Spruce top is more visible.
This Eastman PG2 plays well, and is very resonant, with lots of clarity and separation between notes. The offset body design is quite comfortable and naturally angles the neck up a bit, helping keep the player’s wrist straight.
The original Eastman PG2 hard shell case is included.
