Brand: Eastman
Instrument Categories: Mandolins
Eastman Strings was founded in 1992, yet it is already an integral part of the long and glorious history of one of the most fascinating musical traditions the world has known. Through our violin and bow making activities, we at Eastman Strings are attached to a tradition nearly 500 years old, and we strive to maintain a level of artistic and commercial achievement worthy of our predecessors.
Eastman began by building violins, but now also makes a limited number of archtop jazz guitars and carved top mandolins. Modeled after the classic instruments of the 1920’s, 600 model mandolins include an ebony fingerboard, adjustable bridge, and 3-ply full ivoroid binding. 6 series mandolins are available in classic, sunburst, and classic-sunburst finishes and include an oblong case.
The instrument that I am reviewing this morning, features a rich Classic stain under a thin gloss nitro lacquer finish, bound front and back with grained ivoroid, true carved and hand graduated spruce top with tone bars, true carved flamed maple back, ebony bridge, ebony fingerboard and a rugged cast tailpiece!
