The Eastman AR810 CE , for Cutaway Electric, is one of the best deals for a traditional arched top guitar with solid carved Spruce top and Maple back, and Venetian cutaway. If you are looking for a decent jazz box, your search may be over.
Here we’re looking at an Eastman AR810 CE, built during 2005 at the Eastman plant outside Beijing. These are great instruments, and this one is no exception. The top is solid, carved Spruce, the back solid carved Flame Maple, and the neck is built of 3 pieces of Maple for stability, and carries a bound Ebony fingerboard. Ebony is also used for the head plate, bridge, pick guard and, with a brass plate, the tailpiece. A Kent Armstrong ‘floating’ neck mount pickup is installed. and the volume control is mounted to the pickguard.
The finish is Nitrocellulose lacquer, and this model is sold in Sunburst or, as seen here, a ‘Classic’ finish that simulates the hand-rubbed sunburst on a violin family instrument.
This particular example is in great playing condition – and it has been played, so it has developed its voice and is good sounding and responsive. Fret wear is light to moderate, and the nitrocellulose lacquer finish shows some wear from contact with the player’s body.
An excellent, light weight black hard shell fiberglass case is included.
