Brand: Eastman
Instrument Categories: Archtop, Electric, Guitars, SOLD
Now discontinued, the Eastman AR803ce Archtop Electric features a 16 inch wide, single Venetian cutaway body with carved, solid Spruce top and Flame Maple back. The sides and neck are also Flamed Maple, with Ebony for the bridge, headplate and bound fingerboard. Hardware is gold coloured, with Gotoh tuners bearing ‘Imperial’ deco-style stairstep tuner buttons. The original Ebony / metal tailpiece has been replaced with a standard trapeze model.
The finish is a traditional nitrocellulose lacquer sunburst. Typical of a dedicated Jazz box, there is one pickup in the neck position, with a volume and tone control.
Here, the pickup is a jazz-oriented humbucker by Kent Armstrong. As a trivia bit, Kent Armstrong is the son of the late Dan Armstrong, famous for many innovations in the 1960’s including lucite-bodied guitars that could be seen from time to time on stages used by bands like The Rolling Stones.
This Eastman AR803ce was built during 2008 and while it has definitely been used, it’s in quite good overall condition with just a few very small bumps and dings. Fret wear is light to moderate, and the guitar plays well and cleanly. This guitar is quite comfortable given its moderate body size and relatively light weight – just over 5 pounds or 2.3kg. It is currently set up with flat wound strings.
The original Eastman arched top hard shell case is included.
