Here is a brand new Douglas Harrison GB Custom with bookmatched, flame Maple top and sunburst finish!

Douglas Harrison builds the GB Custom, named after the initial model built for the late Gary Benson, at his shop in Toronto. The GB Custom is a very popular model and shows off Harrison’s skill.

This Harrison GB Custom was very recently completed and is in new condition. The hand-carved Flame Maple top, with a solid section under the bridge, has a hand-rubbed Sunburst finish, while the Tropical Mahogany body back and three-piece, quarter sawn neck have a gloss lacquer finish. The head plate, bridge, tailpiece and Maple – bound fingerboard are all Gabon Ebony. Frets are Stainless Steel and the fretwork is very clean and precise. For hardware, Gotoh 510 tuners in Chrome finish are at the head, and a Lindy Fralin PAF style pickup is paired with a Barbera bridge pickup. The controls allow for Volume, Tone, and Blend; the Tone control has a push/pull pot for series / parallel. The Blend control runs an EMG buffer preamp.

The Harrison GB Custom is an excellent, professional grade instrument tailored to the needs of working jazz players. Its design construction and finish are top quality.

The original Harrison branded hard shell, arched top case by Armitage is included.

“The G.B. model was designed in cooperation with respected jazz guitarist Gary Benson. Gary and Doug both wanted an instrument with archtop qualities, but without the tendency to feedback at higher volume levels. This design satisfies both requirements, as well as being a very comfortable guitar to play.

There are currently two versions of the basic design.

Version 1 has a chambered (mostly hollow) body, with a solid section under the bridge. This offers best feedback rejection and increased sustain. Version 1 is available with or without “S” holes.

Version 2 has an “X” braced top with a more open body. This gives more acoustic output and more closely matches the archtop sustain characteristics.Version 2 comes with “S” holes as a standard feature.”
