Brand: David Nichols
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, SOLD
This David Nichols OO style guitar demonstrates Nichol’s high degree of familiarity with pearl inlay – it looks like it was easy for the builder to do, a sure sign that it isn’t. This David Nichols OO style guitar is a great example.
Dave Nichols has spent decades doing custom inlay work, including a lot for the Martin Guitar company, and he’s chosen the classic designs and here, the ‘Style 41’ inlay set executed in Mother of Pearl and Abalone. This guitar uses the classic 00-Style body with Spruce top paired with Brazilian Rosewood for the sides, back and head plate, with Abalone binding around the top. The body blocks and neck are Mahogany with an ivorid-bound ebony fingerboard. There is also Abalone lining around the fingerboard and headstock, an abalone torch inlay on headstock and abalone ‘snowflake’ position markers. The gold-plated tuners are by Waverly and the bridge pins have abalone inserts. The nut and saddle are bone, and fret wear is light to moderate.
The finish is the original gloss lacquer, in good condition with a few scratches on the bass side.
This guitar plays well, and has the full, even response associated with these 00 body sizes.
Sold with a standard hard shell case.
