Brand: Collings
Instrument Categories: SOLD, Ukuleles
The Collings UT41K Tenor Ukulele is one of the best built, best sounding ukuleles we’ve seen, combining Hawaiian Koa for the top, back and sides, Mahogany for the body blocks and neck, and Brazilian Rosewood for the head plate, bridge and fingerboard.
Abalone is used for the ‘Martin 41’ style rosette, ‘diamond’ position markers and purfling. Grained ivoroid binding is used around the top and back, headstock, and fingerboard.
The tuners are Peghed models, geared replicas of traditional wooden friction tuners and they work very well.
Dating to June 20 of 2013, this Collings UT41K Tenor Uke is in very good, clean condition with some light honest play wear to the top above the fingerboard.
Collings is extremely good at lacquer finishing, and here the light brown shading really brings out the figuring in the Koa body. This instrument is now about ten years old, and the finish has naturally settled some.
This is much more than a ‘looker’. Its good looks may be exceeded by its sound, which is rich, full and complex. It also plays very well.
Sold with the original Collings hard shell case.
