Comments Collings guitars are outstanding illustrations of just how consistently good instrument construction can be. These are just great instruments.

The Collings DS1 Slope Shoulder Dreadnought is a re-creation of the original dreadnought design, using the early slope-shoulder, 12-fret neck configuration.

In their originally form, these instruments were targeted towards Hawaiian style players, so the tonal output is very smooth, rich, and full.

There’s a massive presence with sparkling highs, a full yet not overwhelming bottom end, and luscious midrange.

Neck Mahogany neck with unbound ebony fingerboard. 25.5″ scale length with 1 13/16″ nut width. Slotted peghead.
Frets 12 frets to the body, 19 frets total.
Body Slope-shoulder dreadnought body design with Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides and ebony bridge. Pre-war type scalloped bracing is used, and faux tortoise binding and pickguard sets off the body.

15 5/8″ maximum body width, maximum depth 4 7/8″.

Finish Gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
Hardware/electronics Waverly tuning gears, bone nut and saddle.
Playability/Action Collings instruments play really well with the factory setup, and we will of course make any adjustments required by the player.
Case Collings deluxe hardshell case included.
