Brand: Collings
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, SOLD
Here is a Collings CW Indian A Dreadnought steel string guitar dating to 2009 and in great shape. The ‘CW’ stands for Collings Winfield after the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas. This guitar is built for serious flat-pickers.
The Winfield festival has run since 1972 during the third week of September and is formally called the “Walnut Valley National Guitar Flat-Picking Championships Festival“. Several other competitions are also held, for Autoharp, Fiddle, Bluegrass Banjo, Dulcimer, Hammer Dulcimer and Mandolin.
Based on the classic D-28 design, the Collings CW Indian A features an Adirondack Spruce top with oversize soundhole to produce more clean volume when played hard. The sides and back are Indian Rosewood with Ebony for the head plate, bridge and bound fingerboard, and Mahogany for the neck and body blocks. Tuners are Waverly open gear models in nickel plate. The Collings headstock inlay is Mother of Pearl. There are no electronics, this guitar is strictly acoustic.
This Collings CW Indian A has recently received significant professional service, including a neck reset. It plays very well and sounds great. The original hard shell case is included.
