It’s always a treat to play guitars like this Collings C10 Deluxe parlor style guitar. Not only does sound great and play very well, but the fit and finish are about as good as it gets.
The Collings C10 Deluxe parlor guitar is a small bodied model, based on instruments that were common before the launch of the dreadnought and jumbo models, which rapidly took over in the 1930s. This type of guitar provides a very balanced tone. The C10 Deluxe pairs a Sitka Spruce top with Indian Rosewood for the sides and back. The neck and body blocks are Honduran Mahogany, with Ebony used for the bridge, bound head plate and bound fingerboard. Position markers are restrained, with Mother of Pearl dots at frets 5, 7, 12 and 15. The headstock uses Colling’s distinctive ‘Haircut’ shape and the Collings logo is Mother of Pearl. The pickguard is a faux tortoise plastic.
This example of the Collings C10 Deluxe Parlor guitar was built in Austin, Texas during 2001. It’s in overall good condition with minimal wear. There is a small repair to the back of the neck, which received a dent and has been filled and finished. There are also a couple of small marks in the top, not unusual for a 19 year old guitar.
Like every other Collings we’ve handled, this guitar plays well and sounds great. It has been well set up and is very easy to play.
The original Collings hard shell case by TKL is included.
More From The Builder On The Collings C10 Deluxe Parlor Guitar:
“Based on guitars first introduced around the same time as the OM, the Collings C10 is a leaner alternative, with the narrow waist and small upper bout resulting in a precise, focused response. Of all our acoustic models, the C10 is perhaps the easiest for electric guitarists to adapt to, thanks in part to the more rounded neck profile. The small oval neck heel is ideally suited to the optional cutaway, which allows unrestricted access to the upper frets.
With its unique shape and asymmetrical headstock’s lines echoed in the curvilinear pickguard, C10 models offer a welcome alternative for those who find that most small acoustic guitars look too much alike.”
