Brand: Collings
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, SOLD
Here is a wonderful Collings 0001 with a 12-fret full 25.5 inch scale neck, built with Sitka Spruce top and Honduran Mahogany. Built during 2012 in Austin and signed by Bill Collings, this guitar is in very good clean condition. While this guitar is now almost a decade old, it has been very well cared for. It’s also been owned and played by someone with highly developed skills, and so the guitar has had a chance to develop its frankly impressive voice. Like the original ‘Vintage’ examples from the 1920s – before 14-fret necks were introduced – this guitar has a fairly wide nut spacing, at just over 1.8 inches. This helps make cleanly playing complex chord fingerings easier.
This Collings 0001 is sold with its original hard shell case.
Here is the builder on the Collings 0001 model:
“The 12-fret 0001 has the same general appearance as the Collings 00, but in a larger size with longer string scale. Although it’s the same width and depth as the OM, the longer body typically produces more bass and overall volume. This makes the Collings 0001 ideal for string-band purists or any guitarist who wants a maximum of power from an instrument of comfortable size with an elegant, old-time appearance. Along with the usual options in woods, binding, and inlay , it is also available with a graceful cutaway. “
