Built in Melbourne, Australia, the Cole Clark FL1A/12 features solid wood construction with sustainably sourced, local wood species. Cole Clark, like Maton, typically use indigenous woods wherever possible. The company was founded in 2001 by Brad Clark, who worked for Maton from 1990 to 2001. The company offers a number of unique instruments including the Violap, a lap steel guitar influenced by the Weissenborn design.
The top of the Cole Clark FL1A/12 is Bunya Pine (Araucaria bidwillii) a conifer that grows up to 150 feet tall with cones that weigh up to 10 kilos! Being under these trees carries a recognized risk and head injuries are regularly occur. The sides and back are Australian Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon), and the neck is Maple with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard. A factory – stock Cole Clark pickup and preamp system is installed. The finish is thin, a light natural coating and the Blackwood has a natural toned filler. Grover Mini-Rotomatics are installed.
This Cole Clark FL1A/12 guitar is in overall good condition, and has recently been set up at The Twelfth Fret Repair Shop. A small crack on the bridge between the octave-string pin holes have been filled.
As a 12 string, this guitar has everything it needs. The action is good, the fingerboard is wide enough to allow easy chording without inadvertent damping of adjacent strings, and it has a full, rich sound with good representation throughout the harmonic range.
This Cole Clark FL1A/12 is sold with its hard shell case.
