Brand: Chipman Vintage Parlor Guitars
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, SOLD
This Chipman Vintage Parlor Guitar was built during 2017 at Steve Chipman’s shop in Chester, Vermont using a Martin 12-fret body mold and 12-fret neck from a budget model 50’s United brand parlor.
The Chipman Vintage Parlor Guitar company focuses on rebuilding, restoring and repairing these small older instruments. Sometimes, as in this example, the damage is extensive enough that only some parts can be re-used. For this guitar, Steve built a new Martin 12-fret style deep body from solid Mahogany. A 1950’s United brand neck received a new fingerboard – and apparently an adjustable truss rod, just visible behind the forward support brace – a full refret, and a hybrid bolted tenon joint rather than the original dovetail. The Ebony bridge is a Pyramid style.
This Chipman Vintage Parlor Guitar is in overall good condition with only minor wear. It plays well, and sounds good. The deeper body provides more bass response and a fuller sound along with the natural warmth of Mahogany.
A Superior brand hard shell case is included.
