The C.F. Martin D-35 is immediately recognisable by its three-piece back. Introduced in 1965, it allowed Martin to use smaller pieces of increasingly scarce Rosewood – at the time, Brazilian. It was a hit, and overtook the D-28 in popularity around 1974. By 1969, Martin had completely shifted away from Brazilian and all their guitars were Indian Rosewood.
This C.F. Martin D-35 was built during 1976 at the historic C. F. Martin plant in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. It uses a Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood for the back, sides and headplate, and Ebony for the bridge and bound fingerboard. A K&K Mimi pickup system has been added. This guitar has been used as intended over the years, and there are a few marks in the back and top, and fret wear is light to moderate.
This C.F. Martin D-35 guitar has been recently serviced and set up in our shop and is in good playing condition. It plays well, and has that full, warm, Martin Dreadnought tone. Typically, the D-35 is regarded as having a bit more clarity and separation, with more volume support, compared to the D-28. This is partly because the 3-piece back tends to be stiffer.
The original blue molded Martin hard shell case is included.
