❌SOLD❌ C F Martin Custom Shop 000 Guitar, Guatemalan Rosewood, 2015

Here’s something special – a C F Martin Custom Shop 000 body guitar, custom built with an Adirondack Spruce top and a spectacular set of Guatemalan Rosewood for the back and sides. Because of the mix of elements in this guitar, it’s just designated as a ‘Custom Shop 000’ rather than a 000-28 or such.

The Martin Custom Shop offers selective players the opportunity to tailor a guitar to their own preferences. Choices include body shape and size, tonewoods, inlays, hardware, and neck profile.

Here, the purchaser chose to combine simple subtlety with dramatic wood figuring. The Adirondack Spruce top has a vintage tint, and the binding is quite simple – a faux tortoise with no purfling. The bracing is traditionally scalloped and hide glue is used throughout the construction. A small faux-tortoise pickguard is mounted, and the rosette is a style 28 Herringbone design.

The C F Martin Custom Shop 000 guitar neck is traditional Mahogany with an Ebony bound Ebony fingerboard, and the bridge is also Ebony. Small mother of pearl position markers are used, nothing obtrusive, showy, or fancy.

The sides, head plate and especially the back, however are a highly figured Guatemalan Rosewood. This variant is considered to be close to Brazilian Rosewood in many ways. Its figuring is certainly allowed to speak for itself on this guitar! Tuners are Waverly open gear models with ‘butter bean’ buttons.

This exceptional guitar is in very clean condition with just the slightest wear. While it doesn’t appear to have been played much, it sounds very good, and should definitely open up and deliver a full, rich complex tone with the harmonic balance that the 000 body typically delivers. The action is comfortable, and there’s lots of saddle to adjust it as required by the player.
