Bruce Haines is a private builder of Classical guitars, working from his shop just east of Toronto, Canada. His background in machining, tool and die making help with understanding of precision work, and he’s played guitar for decades provide an understanding of guitars as instruments.
Here is a new Bruce Haines classical guitar, labelled as 02 from 2017. It is built using Englemann spruce for the top, Indian Rosewood for the back, sides, head plates and bridge, Mahogany for the neck and Ebony for the fingerboard. The finish is a nicely done French Polish. Tuners are gold-plated Schaller models with faux pearl buttons, and the nut and saddle are bone.
This Bruce Haines classical guitar is based on a traditional Hauser style, using plans from John Bogdanovich. In practical terms, this means that it has the Hauser body shape and follows his fan bracing patterns. Tonally, it is typically Hauser, with a clean, even tone with good representation throughout the frequency range, clear separation between notes, and a fair amount of volume and presence.
This guitar is well build and well finished, with a good tone that is sure to develop as it is played.
A hard-shell, arched top case is included.
