Brand: Boucher Guitars
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, SOLD
Here is a very special Boucher JP Cormier guitar, and one of only two available to customers before it becomes a regular Signature model. The other two are owned by Boucher, and JP Cormier!
Based on the Boucher HG-56 000-12FTB – the 12FTB stands for “12 Frets To Body” – the Boucher JP Cormier model adds a cutaway, an Abalone Rosette, and Koa for the back strip, body binding, and end graft. There are no electronics.
The highest grade woods are used – AAAA grade, torrefied Adirondack Spruce for the top, Indian Rosewood for the sides and back, Mahogany for the neck and Ebony for the fingerboard and bridge. Mother of Pearl is used for the Boucher logos at the head and octave fret. Hardware is minimal – the nut and saddle are bone, and the tuners are top shelf Gotoh models built for use with a slotted peghead.
This is a fantastic guitar, designed for use by a highly skilled fingerstylist.
Supplied with the original hard shell case.
JP Cormier is one of Canada’s premiere guitarists, and we have been happy to host him at The Twelfth Fret several times.
Here is the builder describing how the Boucher JP Cormier signature model came about:
“Over the last couple of years, JP Cormier became one of the most important ambassadors for Boucher Guitars.
JP’s appreciation for our guitars led him to acquire a vast selection of models that he uses frequently on stage and in the studio. The proximity we have established with this passionate acoustic guitar player eventually lead us to learn more about which Boucher guitar he used the most and why.
Sharing his experience, JP mentioned that he seemed to play his 000-12FTB more often, even if the neck joint to body position limited his access to lower frets.
Our desire to craft an instrument perfectly adapted to his playing style led us on the path of a new and exciting project. Boucher would create unique 000-12 fret to body with an extremely convenient cutaway design!
A fantastic guitar perfectly adapted for finger style players like JP that would possess all the deep low-mid range tone typical of our 000’s with significant improved accessibility.
Having set the standards to the highest possible level, engineering the JP Cormier was quite a challenge. None the less, this talented and generous artist allowed us to push the limits of our abilities.
Boucher not only tailored a Signature model to celebrate Mr. JP Cormier’s rich legacy; Boucher created a halo guitar that embodies the level of expertise mastered by our team.
This is a special guitar adapted for advanced fingerstyle players.”
