Brand: Beneteau Guitars
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, SOLD
This Marc Beneteau OM was built during 2011 at the Beneteau Guitars shop in St. Thomas, Ontario. Marc has been building since 1974, originally in Ottawa. He is largely self taught, though he’s taken inspiration from Jean Larrivee’s work. Many prominent Canadian builders worked directly for or with Larrivee, but Marc did not, instead taking cues from Larrivee’s influences from classical guitar building, which produces a result quite different from the Martin – Gibson building styles.
Built with Western Red cedar for the top and African Padauk for the back and sides, this Beneteau OM also sports a Laskin armrest, which greatly adds to the player’s comfort. The neck and body blocks are Mahogany, with Ebony used for the fingerboard and bridge. The rosette is box elder burl, and the trim and binding are ziricote. Tuners are excellent Gotoh 510 models in chrome. New, this guitar sells for $8,150.
This fine instrument is a few years old, and has had one repair – a back crack was cleated, with padauk cleats, and the back has been refinished. It has minor play wear and minor, natural lacquer checking. Fret wear is light.
The Marc Beneteau OM plays very well and the original tweed TKL case is included.
