The Anderson Drop Top T is based on the classic ‘T’ style design that’s been in use since the dawn of the 1950’s. Building on this, it adds a well-figured Maple cap on an Alder body, a ‘vintage-style’ trem bridge system, and in this case, a pair of humbuckers with a single coil in the center position.
Here we’re looking at an Anderson Drop Top T, with a faux-bound figured Maple top; instead of the binding being separate pieces, the finish is scraped back for a visual simulation. The finish is called ‘Fire’, a combination of yellow and red stains and tints that bring out the varying grain directions in the figure, suggesting the colour tones of a fire.
This example dates to June 19 2007, based on the serial number, and was built at Newbury Park, California. It is in overall good shape, with a few small dings and finish chips expected after 16 years of use; fret wear is very light. This guitar is also pre-configured for the patented Buzz Feiten tuning system, so it’s ready for a tuner with the correct offsets. It plays well, and the larger frets really provide a lot of positive grip.
