The Alvarez DYM60HDE is based on a guitar designed and built for Jack Pearson, a highly respected American guitarist and once a member of the Allman Brothers Band, and sits at the higher end of the Alvarez line since its introduction around 2018.

Using the classic Dreadnought body style, the Alvarez DYM60HDE pairs an AAAA-grade Adirondack (Red) Spruce top with Honduran Mahogany for the sides, back, neck and body blocks. The fingerboard, head plate and unusual bridge are Ebony; the bridge’s string passage section is a black plastic. The inlay set is Abalone, and consists of the stylized Alvarez – Yairi logo on the headstock, another rendering of the logo at the octave fret, and a rosette ring.

The bridge plate is Maple with an Ebony sub-plate to catch the string’s ball ends. The nut and saddle are Tusq. This is an ‘E’ model, generally indicating ‘Electric’, and has an L R Baggs under-saddle pickup system factory installed to an end-pin jack with the battery bag mounted on the neck block. The tuners are excellent Gotoh 510 models with black buttons.

The label describes this as an Alvarez by Kazuo Yairi, who died in 2014, and bears a signature. Yairi was extremely influential in the creation of the Alvarez line.
This Alvarez DYM60HDE was built during 2023 in Kani, Japan, just northeast of Nagoya. It’s in very good, clean condition with light wear to the guitar, and a couple of small pressure marks on the lower bass side, and plays very well. The materials combination and the bridge design make this a very responsive guitar with huge potential for volume and projection that will hold up well under very heavy playing.

The original two-tone, arched-top case is included and contains the warranty card, truss rod adjustment key and case key. It’s in good condition, thought here is a tear in the top covering.

The DYM60HD was conceived in collaboration with blues guitarist and one-time Allman Brothers Band member Jack Pearson.
